A Free Magic Trick – What's It Worth
To You?
If you're thinking of learning to do magic, you've probably
tried learning a free magic trick or two. There are lots of
books that have many tricks, and also places on the Internet
that offer free magic tricks you can learn.
Though they aren't hard to learn, and often don't take much
real effort to perform, there's a lot of value to those free
magic tricks. They're worth more than you think. Let's take a
look at the value of a free magic trick.
That's Entertainment!
It used to be, back in the old days, that magicians would
travel from town to town, running the circuit as the vaudeville
performers did. They would plan out their route and send the
advance crew ahead to plaster the town with posters and
billboards. This would get the crowds excited ahead about the
upcoming arrival of the magician. Now, too, people enjoy
watching a good magic trick. Whether they think they know how
it's done or they are totally flabbergasted, a magic trick –
even if free – can be wonderful entertainment.
Impress Your Friends
What person isn't impressed with a well-performed magic
trick? The free magic tricks are often just as impressive as
other, more complicated effects, and your friends never need to
know what you paid to learn the effect. Your friends will just
be amazed that you know magic at all, and they'll want to know
how you did it – but don't tell them!
Amaze Yourself
Self-esteem comes from doing things we can be proud of. Many
people want to learn a magic trick or two, but only a select
few ever do anything about it. If you've learned a magic trick,
you can be justifiably proud of yourself! Practice all you need
to in order to be really good at it – then perform it regularly
so you don't forget the patter that accompanies it, and the
maneuvers that you've learned so that the trick comes off
without a hitch.
Building Up
If you want to become a practicing magician (of the caliber
that can get paid to perform), you will need to expand the
number and difficulty of the magic tricks you can perform. But
to get a start, you don't need any more than a book from a
public library (free) and a few simple things like a deck of
cards or silk cloths. Maybe a few coins or a handkerchief. Once
you've mastered several magic tricks from free resources, then
you can build up and learn more.
Enjoy your new hobby – Entertain, impress, and build up!
